About Us
We’re a small but highly motivated team based in the Manawatu. We’re 100% New Zealand owned and operated, and we all love what we do. From our land to your hand. We are M&H, this is our story.
The boss, Corey, runs the business (lives and breathes) from our base in Ashhurst while our beekeepers tend our hives outside of the manuka season on farms across the region. During summer we travel to sites from Taranaki down to Tora, and everywhere in between. (And it’s not uncommon to find Corey leaving the office to join the beekeepers)
Our staff are all highly experienced and multi-talented, with beekeepers often working extraction and packing plants, shed staff driving trucks and harvesting honey, and everyone filling in where needed. As a result, we know what we’re doing. We’re proactive, versatile, fast-moving, adaptable and flexible. And happy to answer any questions you may have.
Our Story
Our story starts long before the inception of our company. Beekeeping has been in Corey’s family for over 40 years, but it was only in 2014 that the family passion came to life as a business. From here, the number of hives has grown from 20 to over 4000, and the company has employed more beekeepers and staff with the same ethos, beliefs and passion for the land.
We have developed the brand M&H to be something we’re proud of. We want to show the world the commitment and effort that goes into every jar. Every bee sting, every muddy track, glorious landscape, rainy night, long drive, hot day and breathtaking dawn, turned into something pure and beautiful in the palm of your hand. We’re in it every step of the way, and we want our customers to be a part of the journey when they pick up the jar.
Our label has been designed to engage more than just your eyes. We’ve incorporated braille on the sides to encourage you to hold the jar, and appreciate that we’ve made more than just honey.
About Mānuka
“Manuka“, the source of this precious honey. And “Aroha“, commonly translated as “love” in English. To our Maori people, it encompasses so much more. Aroha is for the connection between people and land, and the earths creative spirit. A fitting word for honey that comes from a plant that plays such a crucial role in forest regeneration, and supports the growth of our young forest giants.
We hope in years to come our honey will be synonymous with quality, purity, passion and aroha. And we hope you will be part of our story too.
